A glimmer of hope. And then it was gone.

Amongst my various responsibilities at work, one of them is to help collect money out of the donation boxes in the Museum to be counted and logged. We find various items in the boxes besides money, like tissues, gum, tennis ball can tops, teeth. And every now and then we run across foreign money, which we can't process. So in the last few weeks I've inherited bills from around the globe, and put them into a meager "collection" to look at every now and then, shimmy in my chair in a brief fit of joy, and return to whatever I was doing 25 seconds ago.

Today we found 2000 pesos in one of the boxes, and I decided to actually look it up to see how much it was worth. I put it into google and almost fell off my chair when I saw it amounted to 141 bucks and some change in US currency. (Don't look at me like that. You know money doesn't go far these days.)

Luck has finally found me, right? Well I look a little closer at the bill, because pesos aren't just from Mexico (duh), and I find that this peso is from Colombia. Type it in. What does it amount to? 83 cents, American currency.

Joy? Gone.

And that's about as exciting as it's been the last few weeks.
